This Week at Alpha II – Halloween, Pumpkin Carving, Spooktacular
October 30, 2026
BOO! It was a truly SPOOKTACULAR week at Alpha II, full of fun activities and happenings.
We kicked off our week and headed to Orangeville to experience small-town life and embark on a haunted walking tour. We heard spooky tales of cheating, murder and scandal, GASP! While we didn’t get any jump scares, a few folks were haunted by the not-so-good “FN Good Burger” (yes, this is the name of a burger joint).
It was a beautiful fall day, and the kids got to hang out and spend time … together in community.
We continued with more fun times on Wednesday as some of us headed to check out the new movie, Wildwood. Thanks to Ajax for getting this field trip off the ground so we could check out the incredible art of stop-motion filmmaking.
On Thursday, we faced technical difficulties trying to get the movie Coraline screened for the kids. In the end, a few mentees gathered around a laptop to watch the film and eat some popcorn.
In the afternoon, some mentees got their hands messy removing the guts from a pumpkin to carve some great designs.
Shoutout to all the mentees who joined the spirit week festivities to connect, have fun and make some A2 memories!

“CO-OP is a really good opportunity. You can make it happen in any setting or profession. I have been to my CO-OP twice, and I have learned a lot already. I have learned what I like and dislike about this industry and what I want to explore in the field of forestry. All students who can should explore opportunities outside the building.”

Reminder: If your child is in Grade 11 or 12, co-op and dual credit opportunities are available!

A Note from Your Mentor Team
Mentor-Mentee Chats – Happening Next Week!
It is that time at the end of the month when we, the mentors, engage in our end-of-month check-ins with the mentees.
Mentees are asked to reflect on their self-directed learning journey with prompts in their binders. These prompts help guide our conversation so that we can effectively support them.
Should you want to know how things are going, ask to see their binders! These were created as a tool for sharing insights into your child’s learning.
Portfolio Night has been locked in for December 2. What will your child be showcasing? These are great conversations for all of us to be having with our kids so we are all on the same page.
